The Shabbat challot tray is a special and exciting item in every Jewish home. This is the tray on which the two Shabbat challahs are placed. This item elevates and glorifies the Shabbat table, and is a significant part of kiddush, as the Rambam wrote:

“מצות עשה מן התורה לקדש את יום השבת בדברים שנאמר זכור את יום השבת לקדשו. כלומר זכרהו זכירת שבח וקידוש. (הרמב”ם, משנה תורה, הלכות שבת כ”ט הלכה א).

In every Jewish home there is excitement every shabbat evening, a significant part of this excitement comes from taking out the Shabbat challot tray and placing it on the Shabbat table, after which two challahs bought for the “Shabbat kodesh” are placed on it.
